Check out Mariah Carey’s performance of the Jackson 5 classic I’ll Be There during Michael Jackson’s public memorial service at the Staples Center is Los Angeles today (July 7).
Dressed in a reavealing black, glittery dress, Mimi was at a near-gasp in the song’s opening moments. Luckily her partner on the 1992 cover, Trey Lorenz, was on hand to save the day as he heightened the performance’s gospel undertones.
Mariah originally sang the A No. 1 hit on her 1992 MTV Unplugged album.

Geez, they both kinda sounded like shit. WTH happened to Mariah’s voice?
She sounds awful!!!! not to mention what’s up with the hand???
Mariah has lost her voice big time!
She could barely hit those high notes.
you fuckers
tried singing after a friend died lately?
Mariah is lucky she has attained Diva status because her voice is shot. Have noticed it for awhile now.
god her voice sucks!! Remember when she used to be good?!?!
She looks gorgeous and I love this song, but her voice is definately not sounding as good as it used to. I’m sure it is hard to sing at a funeral though and I can’t imagine how hard it would be. I think we can give Mariah a break this time right?
ever tried singing when you’re holding back tears? not easy. damn haters!
I know for a fact, that many power singers find it hard to sing and hit their notes, first thing in the morning….that’s why many of them nurse their voices all day before big performances with hot water with lemon and honey. If I recall, she’s even stated in an interview that singing early is a strain for her. All I wanna know is who is the designer of that fabulous black dress she was wearing? For her, it was VERY tasteful, she doesn’t have the best track records when it comes to dressing with taste.
Morning, day, or night, doesn’t matter, Mariah has ruined her voice.
