At barely over five feet tall, 19-year-old Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere is mastering the art of dressing for her height while still pulling off a playful-yet-sophisticated look.

“There are all these little tricks that make such a difference,” she tells the August issue of Lucky magazine. “Like being conscious of when a shoe cuts me off at the ankle so it doesn’t shorten my legs.”

The star of the recently released romantic comedy I Love You, Beth Cooper found something to obsess over right away at Lucky’s West Hollywood shoot. Fresh off a flight from Europe, she dove into a rack of hot pink clothes. “How can you not love this colour? It just makes me happy,” she said of the dress she ended up wearing on the cover. “The shape is conservative, but the shade is totally fun.”
