How does Sarah Palin keep her famously fine form in shape? Running!
In an interview in August’s Runner’s World, the Alaskan Governor talks all about her favourite mode of exercise — including her favorite running music and her embarrassment at falling once in front of the Secret Service.
A few highlights:
Sarah on whether she’s ever run with President Obama: “I would, absolutely. I would and people have asked if I’d ever challenge him to one-on-one because we both love basketball. But look, he towers over me and I wouldn’t be complaining about an unfair advantage there, but maybe I’d do better playing H-O-R-S-E with him than one-on-one.”
Sarah on whether she could beat the President in a race: “I betcha I’d have more endurance. My one claim to fame in my own little internal running circle is a sub-four (hour) marathon. It wasn’t necessarily a good running time, but it proves I have the endurance within me to at least gut it out and that is something. If you ever talk to my old coaches, they’d tell you, too. What I lacked in physical strength or skill I made up for in determination and endurance. So if it were a long race that required a lot of endurance, I’d win.”
Sarah on never having run with her former running mate, John McCain: “I used to joke around with John McCain during the campaign about coming jogging with me. And once I asked him what his favourite exercise was, and he said, ‘I go wading.’ Wading. He lives on a creek in Arizona, so he goes wading. That cracked me up.”
Sarah on Chariots of Fire being her favourite running movie: “[It's] absolutely beautiful. My favourite movies are sports movies, Hoosiers, Rudy. They both were about the underdog working hard and being successful because preparation met opportunity at the right time. I love those movies.”
Sarah on whether she listens to music during her runs: “When I do listen, I crank up old Van Halen, old AC/DC. I have a nice routine: I kick off my runs with the old Van Halen and AC/DC, then I get into my country music, then I always wrap it up with a couple of mellow Amy Grant songs.”

Why does Sarah Palin need to fuck up such a normally awesome celebrity blog? Just seeing her face here puts me in a bad mood. UGH.
Stupid C.U.N.T!!!
AC DC? Van halen? She may have been born just plain white trash but Palin was her name!!
Hopefully more Americans will follow in her footsteps and start to run, or at least exercise more. Americans are getting too BIG!
Sarah Palin is the Ant-Christ. She is evil ! !
She needs to place her foot either above or below the knee. Idiot!
Where are the palin fans? I want some funnies!
Who is watching and raising her Down Syndrome baby as she works, runs and hunts??? That poor child. If I were his mom I would be involved with his therapies and treatments, not selfishly thinking only of myself…maaybe if she spent more time at home her kids would not be getting knocked up and the like….Thankfully, as a Canadian, I never have to worry about her representing my country.
why couldn’t she have dropped dead?
Why do so many people hate Sarah Palin so much?! I like her. I perceive her as the most forthcoming and trusting political figure. Sarah Palin may be fooling me, but I’d like to give her a chance to do some of the good things she has proposed. I liked when she spoke about doing something about the perceived corruption in Washington. I want someone, like her, who seems very grounded. I do not agree with some of her beliefs but I admire that she is willing to put her real self out there. I haven’t seen so much bashing of any political candidate. I now see how seriously biased the media is. I never thought twice when I was proud to vote for Democrats in my twenties. I now vote for the person rather than their party. I hope that the Obama team and Congress can find a way to not tax me or any more than I have been taxed already. I’m barely making ends meet. I also hope that the Obama team and Congress can somehow help our failing economy. I know that Obama will not be the savior of every problem we have in the US. However, I do not trust VP Joe Biden, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. I thought Obama spoke well during the debates. I thought McCain was a nice guy during the debates. I just trust Sarah Palin more than any of the other people who ran for President and Vice President. I hope Sarah Palin will be on the ballot in the near future for VP or possibly even President. I look forward to the possibility.
kaz, I look forward to the possibility that she runs as well, because her presence will ensure that a Democrat wins. If the Republican party is stupid enough to put her on the ticket then they deserve to fail. And as to her trustworthiness, perhaps a check of her record in Alaska will disabuse of the notion that she is anything other than a shady politician of the worst kind.
hmm, if you are referring to the abuse of power issue when she fired a state official as a governor…I can see it being a cause of concern. I’ve heard a little about it from both sides and I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I side with the Governor of Alaska. However, if she were to have other similar instances, I would re-look at the matter. If you are referring to any other decision she has made as Governor of Alaska, I have not researched her record so I cannot comment.
As far as commenting on the article, I didn’t realize she listens to Van Halen or AC DC. Interesting. I like them too. It doesn’t really mean anything though. I think it is also good that she is keeping in shape. We Americans should try to get our obese numbers down.
Sarah Palin is nothing but a vile lying piece of crap. I hope the Republicans are dumb enough to nominate her the presidential candidate for 2012. Then when she loses miserably, she can jump off her bridge to nowhere.
God. I can’t stand this woman.
BUT-that is a beautiful photograph.
