Putting on a brave face, Joe Jackson made a surprise appearance at the 2009 BET Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night (June 28).
On the red carpet, the elder Jackson told CNN: “I wish the world had recognized him when he was living. Right now, he’s bigger than ever. But I wish he was here to see all this, to hear all this.”
While being asked about the state of his family, Joe interrupted the interview to “make a real good statement.”
Proceeding to pimp his new record label, Michael’s father and his business partner said: “Marshall and I, we own a record company called Ranch Records. It’s distrubuted by Blu-Ray technology. And that’s (my) next step.”

what an opportunistic ASS FUCK.
This the “man” that f#cked up MJ. He should be ashamed of himself.
Oh so you haven’t gotten to funeral arrangements, but you had the time to go to the awards. I love how he interrupted the question on how the Jacksons are coping, to promote his company.
This man makes me sick.
Ewww His son just died and he’s promoting his record label????
I was watching that CNN interview and I made myself believe what I heard from him was not TRUE.. i thought i must of heard it wrong. I thought no way could this guy be using CNN as a platform to launch his company, this guy is Heartless
Damn, that was digusting.
What a disgusting human being and pathetic excuse for a father. Is it any wonder Michael had issues, can you imagine growing up with a father who only sees you as a commodity? That would fuck anyone up.
Too bad it wasn’t Joe who croacked, no one would have missed that bastard. Including Michael.
Daddy douchebag is a fucken pathetic excuse for a human being.
WOW, I read your post and I was thinking the same thing.. that I must have not heard Joe’s “good statement” correctly. I couldn’t believe he was plugging his record company and saying “I’m great”.
Joe Jackson is a narcissistic, piece of crap and should burn in hell for all the hurt and pain he caused Michael to carry around for all these years..
Michael - God bless you my friend, we will never forget you…RIP…
are you sure that isn’t ike turner! they sound alike, ignorant ass holes
What a piece of shit, no wonder Michael never had a nice thing to say about him.
All over the world fans are mourning, crying their eyes out, three children who adored their father are now orphans and he’s great?! promoting his record label?!
I hate him so much.
It becomes clearer every day why so many so many of the Jacksons are a mess. Imagine a father who is more interested in promoting himself than reflecting on his newly deceased son. What a scumbag!!
Wow, I have no words. R.I.P. Micheal
If there is any doubt why Michael was the way he was….This should explain it all. What a piece of shit.
I know people grieve in different ways, but please have some tact, joe. Pimpin’ your new record company after you son just died is never a good idea.
Shameful - I really thought I was being punked when I was watching him on CNN

What an asshole, but we already knew that, didn’t we?
AND EVERYONE WONDERS WHY MICHAEL TURNED OUT THE WAY HE DID????!!! May his soul rest in peace.
Bizarre. He doesn’t make much sense and does seem quite insincere. Perhaps that his just his style. However it is likely an expert listening to this interview & watching his body language would draw some interesting conclusions.
Why plug his own record company? That is in extremely poor taste. He seems to be revelling in the limelight.
Remember, this man is the head of the Jackson family and has always had a strange hold over everyone. His behaviour will likely not seem strange to them. Nonetheless, it is not the display of emotion I gather most people were expecting. Blogs will ‘call him out on it’ though unlikely any of the major networks will comment.
Glad to know I wasn’t the only person that was a little disturbed and uncomfortable - as was, quite noticeably, the CNN reporter.
BET did a fantastic tribute in a short space of time & when Janet came on stage that’s when it really hit me that he’s gone. It was so hard to beleive and I can only imagine the family’s pain at this loss.
lets dismember joe jackson like piece by piece that dickhead
