LeAnn Rimes appeared overly chipper as she left a Los Angeles area CVS store today (June 23) with a prescription in hand.

Despite the cheery front, the headline-making country star admits the recent tabloid attention on her life has been tough to handle.

LeAnn graces Shape magazine’s July 2009 issue, alongside Dancing With the Stars professional Julianne Hough and singer Martina McBride, and when asked to chime in on Jessica Simpson’s weight being documented by the tabloids, she revealed how she too struggles to stay positive under the media’s glare.

Referring to reports she participated in an extra-marital affair with her Lifetime movie co-star Eddie Cibrian, LeAnn said: “I’ve been in the tabloids recently too, and it’s been really hard for me. “I’ve been in the public eye since I was 14, so I have a tough skin. It’s fine dragging me through the mud, but don’t drag my loved ones through it. They’re my family, and it hurts them. All I’ll say is, I know what’s in my heart and what’s true.”

The Nothin’ Better to Do singer adds that the faith people put in the glossies is sometimes hard to handle. “What gets me is that people believe everything they read.”
