On screen, Aunt Vivian was a pillar of strength and support in the classic ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In real life, actress Janet Hubert is engaging in a war of words with Will Smith, whom she paints as an egomaniacal star behind the scenes.
In her upcoming memoir titled Perfection Is Not a Sitcom, due for release next year, the 53-year-old TV mom claims guests stars were dropped if they proved funnier than Big Willy. She also goes into detail about receiving the news in 1993 that her character was being recast with actress Daphne Maxwell Reid.
“There was a beautiful stained glass window that I designed in the bedroom, and the windows were open, so my neighbors probably heard me scream. And that beautiful window probably has many cracks in it. Time of Death: approximately 3 pm. The real Vivian Banks was murdered.”

Well we know he’s a self-absorbed asshole now, but I’m doubtful this was the case then…he was too new.

she was on the show over a decade ago and she’s still bitching about being let go. She needs to use whatever money she gets from the book and buy some therapy.
She needs to get over it. I have seen interviews of Will and he doesn’t come off as big-headed ect. I cannot imagine him ebing a “diva” on set.
I did prefer her as Vivian to the other one though.

She was royally screwed over by that show, and never given a reason why she was fired after 5 or 6 years. They just replaced her and didn’t say a word on the show. Cold.
Will Smith I’m sure was a huge douche then, as he’s a giant pain-in-the-ass now. Huge ego to go with those giant Dumbo ears.
My son was up for the part of Will Smiths son in the movie “Pursuit of Happiness”. Next thing I see is the posters all over with Will and his son. No one ever got back to my son’s agent telling her that Will Smith’s son was choosen for the part. I have hated the Smiths ever since.
Will and Jada kids are Rich. Why could they have given an unknown minority child actor/model the part. If not my son than some other unknown. But no they had to get one of their own kids.
My son who’s half black half puerto rican would of been perfect for the part and he’s a much better actor than their kid is. Not to mention the money my son could of made would have gone toward college savings and his Ice hockey fees. I’m gonna stop right here because I’m getting angrier just thinking about Will Smiths B**** A**!!!
Aunt Viv was never the same without Janet Hubert..the “new” Auntie Viv was boring…she didn’t have any pizazz that Janet brought to the role…

I think she was the better Aunt Viv, but her story is a little farfetched. In the years that Will has been in Hollywood, she is the only person who has had a negative thing to say about him on set. Until someone comes forward to support her story, I’m sticking with Will on this one. And Gayle, I think his son was amazing in the movie and their real life bond helped make the movie even more believable.
She sounds like a psycho. That whole excerpt from her book makes her sound like she is just bitter and needs to get over it. It was Will’s show, but I can’t imagine him ever being that egotistical. I think she’s just making things up in order to sell her book. Seriously who is going to buy that?
