Cher is opening up for the first time about her daughter’s transition from Chastity to Chaz Bono.
A publicist confirmed last week news that the 40-year-old offspring of Sonny and Cher has decided to undergo gender transition and become a man.
“Chaz is embarking on a difficult journey, but one that I will support,” Cher tells People mag. “I respect the courage it takes to go through this transition in the glare of public scrutiny, and although I may not understand, I will strive to be understanding. The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child.”

That’s a statement I can relate to. Makes me love Cher even more, if that is possible :).
Cher has made a career out of bringing the crazy. It’d be hypocritical of her to do anything other than support ‘Chaz’ and his quest to embrace the franks and beans.

It’s tragic. I wish Cher had been able to explain to Chastity that all this will not turn her into a man, she will just be losing her femininity to drugs, therapy and mutilating surgery.
Take a look at any woman who has gone through this…. they look ridiculous showing off their little whiskers.
I feel sorry for Cher. What choice does she have nowadays…. any other stance would be “shame on her for not supporting her child” Especially in show business, you have to go along with leftist views.

I can understand where Cher is coming from, and I’m glad she hasn’t come out pretending like everything Chastity is doing is fine and completely normal. As a parent it would be really hard for your child to change themselves from the way that you created them into something and someone else, but I’m sure Cher will love him/her regardless of this. I think that Chastity is making a huge mistake though.
