It was announced today that Angelina Jolie will meet with England’s Foreign Secretary David Miliband in New York City this week to discuss global diplomacy.
Miliband is looking to soften the tone of global relations after Britain became involved in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Yeah, good luck with that one. Not even a photo-op with Angie can wash off the blood off their hands.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, be not concerned with those children, they have more than they ever would living in a third world orphanage. Feel sorry for the ones they didn’t adopt. That said, she obviously uses her celebrity to try and make a difference in the things she believes in. She has seen first hand the devestation of countries we will only see on telethons and Discovery channel. If it takes her and other celebrities that care about something more than parties and shoes to try and make a difference, well good for her. Think about it, young people (on average, I know there are some who do not) read celebrity blogs and watch MTV or E much more than the local or global news. It’s unfortunate, but true. So who better to open their eyes to things beyond nips slips and vajajay shots, then celebrities who not only know their cause, they are actually doing something about it, not just throwing money at the situation. (seriously, the message is being lost behind the hatred… get the message)

Then you should think about all the good that our Idiot President has done, how the 600,000 dead civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq might have felt about having their homes destroyed by a Texan with a God complex. I didn’t vote for Bush and I actually went door to door and worked at my university to get people out to vote. It should be a crime to live here in America and not go vote for your leader. People are too damn lazy to take the time and that is really pathetic. People have called us dumb Americans for far longer than Bush has been in office. It is because of the leaders that we choose sometimes but also because of the celebrities that these other countries see us “admire”. They think we are a nation filled with women that are whores and men that love every second of it. Oh wait a minute, we are. It is in my opinion that Angelina has done many great things by donating $$ but there are other celebs who give $$ and don’t do it as a photo op. Not only that but actualy celebrities are a VERY small percentage of people in our nation. What about the normal people who make very little every year but donate their time and money??? Do we get to meet with world leaders and spit our ideas around? No. Last year in my county alone federal postal workers ALONE gave over 5 million to charity striaght from their paychecks! That is probably about what Angie gave away, where is their recognition? She is a millionaire and should give much away. To whom much is given much is expected.
I just don’t see the advantage for the David Miliband unless he’s just doing it to meet her.

Consider what her weird father might have done to her as a child; consider that she feels a real urge to give back to people. Stupid American is actually in the new Oxford Dictionary as a slang word. Check it out. It refers to the incubated and isolated attitude we perpetuate when we are abroad, and as abroad has come to include our appearances within the WorldWideWeb, we ought to speak with caution in public forums such as these. BTW, I agree she looks used up in this pic. She’s emaciated, has bad skin, and has probably bitten off more than she can chew. But I don’t see her pursuing photo-ops in the same vein as the other celebutantes we so often deride here. Give her a break. The 1st time I ever heard the term stupid American was about 12 years ago. My sister went to France as a student exchange and then this girl from France came and stayed at our house for 2 weeks. These were 13 year old girls I am talking about. Every time this girl would get upset she would call us Stupid Americans. Our whole family was freaking out about this little girl being obviously taught this already at such a young age. Needless to say she was a brat and we were happy when she went back to France. Some of the other families that my parents spoke with that were also in thr program said that they had the same problem! This is something must be taught or heard often by these children. It is quite sad really.
