Chief Justice Lovemore Munlo said the 50-year-old pop star had shown an interest in helping Malawi orphans and that 4-year-old would have a better life with the pop super star.
He said a lower court had erred in turning down the adoption request because Madonna was not resident in Malawi.

Congratulations to Madonna - and especially to Mercy, who will have a wonderful childhood now, full of love and financial stability.
I’m not sure what to think about stars buying children in general - but individual for each child that is adopted this way it seems like a good thing.

i fing it a disgrace, sure the child will have food and designer clothes but does that really make you happy when you come from a different culture, what can she teach this child, just shows you money is what gets these folks things and its a damn shame!

Focus: I agree with MissJanet. Buying children is revolting, but Mercy is going to have a much better life with Madonna than in an orphanage. I suppose we’ll have to let God sort this one out…
Just askin.. your comment makes sense even though i dont agree with the adoption especially the way it was done, its like ok igot money i want it now like shopping in a store, she should have followed the rules like we have to do, plus if she cared that much about this child she would help her family with money to make sure sha doesnt starve. You are right time WILL tell and i only hope this this woman teaches her her culture becuase Africans are strong in gtheir beliefs and culture and that kabbalah religion is not the route to go with her or david ( and yeah im glad they stop calling him David banda , like an outsider) lord have mercy!!!
Congratulations to Mercy and her new family. Lourdes will now have a little sister and David will have someone that shares his birthplace. Since Madonna continues to take the children to Malawi and will be involved there for the long run, I don’t see see how Mercy and David will be deprived of their culture. They will be American, but also Malawian (and British in David & Rocco’s case thanks to dual citizenship).
Mercy has no mother and the family does not recognize the man claiming to be the father. She was in an orphanage all her life and now she has a chance at having a loving family and a home.
