U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were among the civil servants convened at the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, France today (June 6).
Political leaders and veterans were attending the international ceremony — set amidst the graves of 9387 US servicemen — to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944.
Among those who gathered to pay tribute to the veterans, servicemen and their families were Nicolas Sarkozy, Carla Bruni, Prince Charles, Gordon Brown and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Said Barack during his speech: “This day marks not only the triumph of freedom, but it also marks how the trans-Atlantic alliance has allowed for extraordinary prosperity and security on both sides of the Atlantic.”

Finally! Class, sophistication, and intelligence in the White House. Loves it!
Nice to see our First Family welcomed so warmly internationally.
Just wanted to get in before the deranged anti-Obama brigade stinks up the post…
More stagecraft, Enjoy you koolaid drinkers.
why is michelle’s belt sitting under her breasts? It looks like her hips are attached to her chest.
Isn’t it great to see a bunch of world leaders lined up and be able to claim “the cool guy” as your own? I love Obama’s image–let’s just hope he turns out to do what needs doing!
you plantation workers know he’s stood up sarko a few times and they don’t really get along right?
