‘SLUMDOG’ CHILD STAR TO PEN LIFE STORY

slumdog-kids

Slumdog Millionaire stars Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail were all waves and smiles as the arrived in Hong Kong today (June 5) to do some promotional work.

Nine-year-old Rubina, who played Latika in the Oscar-winning movie, plans to write a book about her life in the shantytown where she grew up.

That may only cover less than a decade at this point, but London’s Transworld Publishers obviously feels she’s got something to say.

Slumgirl Dreaming: My Journey to the Stars will be published in Britain in mid-July.

All royalties will go to Rubina and Medecins du Monde, a French medical aid organization.

Let’s hope some of that money will finally be able to get her out of those damn slums!

Can you say exploitation? “We’ve got another Slumdog premiere to promote. Time to shill out the kids.”

There is such a natural and inherent light and joyfulness within this culture. They can have the most miserable circumstances and yet will still give you a look or smile that lights up the room. Wish they could bottle it up and sell it. Such a special quality.
