MLP is a very cool lady.

  2. Meg Says:

Her baby is so cute :)

  3. Claire Says:

    Knock-off baby.

    Jokes.

  4. Da Devil Says:

Funny how difficult is to adopt a black boy that was born in america…I guess is all that spiel about “breaking up families” …

  5. Da Devil Says:

    boy as in baby

  6. bedazzler Says:

I thought they were bespoke one-offs?

  7. abc Says:

Oh she got the hip carrying kind too….like Angelina…copier. I thought she would get the one that comes with the stroller accessory kit.

  8. MikeC... Says:

She is a truely excellent actress and should have been recognized for it many years ago–that being said, I kind of feel like she might be just a little “off”, if you know what I mean–kind of like something is slightly amiss. It’s hard to explain. Kind of like Angelina……..

  9. Barks Says:

Agreed da devil. I’m glad she’s giving a needy child a home but there are kids here who would benefit from the same opportunity. Makes you wonder if its the paperwork or background checks or what that keeps sending ppl outside the US.

  10. Luella Says:

Well I think that American adoption agenices are hesitant to place black kids with white families. Come on, we all know this country is knee deep in racial shit. But anyway, that baby is super cute.

  11. Stephi Says:

I don’t think those jokes are very funny. Becoming a parent is a huge deal and adopting a child is not as easy as dropping down to Barneys and picking up a handbag. I think its great that celebs are using their power and their money in order to make a child’s life better than it would have been. It’s an extremely selfless thing to do.

  12. Carmine Says:

Right. Sheryl Crow gets critisized for adopting a white, American baby (yes, she was on the list like everyone else), while other people get critisized for adopting a needy African child. Both children needed a loving home, so who cares.
And why is this child “just like Zahara”? Because she’s black? Wow, lots of “just like Zahara”s in the States, then.

  13. BeJeeBus Says:

    What an ignorant post.

  14. me Says:

    This post is offensive …

p.s - the kid likely isn’t a ‘refugee’ … just shows how ignorant you are - stop trying to be perez.

p.p.s - when celebs adopt american kids they get flack - ie: sharon stone … it just seems that whether you adopt from asia, africa or indeed america you get some sort of criticism so i guess you just can’t win.

  15. Yvette Says:

I am disgusted at your racist and ignorant comment! You have hit your lowest point.

  16. Black Velveteen Says:

Arasto, I would cut a bitch for you, but yeah, your post was offensive.

  17. African girl who is not a refugee and what's wrong with being one?????????? Says:

Arasto: you definitely went too far this time around!!!!!!!!Seriously did you even proofread this be4 “publishing” ???? So for the sake of a couple more hits to ur web/blog (or maybe r u still confused?) you’d say anything????!!!!!!! Maybe YOU should get the must-have accessory: A BRAIN!!!!!!

  18. Anonymous Says:

I’m disappointed in this post. These are children, and for whatever reasons or circumstances, they were left without a family and a home and placed in an orphanage somewhere. There are millions of kids like this all around the world and it’s a very heartbreaking… certainly, nothing to make light of. They deserve more respect than what this post called for…

  19. Aysla Says:

    ^Anonymous was me.

  20. Anonymous Says:

Um Stephi considering that pedophiles have been “adopting” kids from Indonesia for years I think it might be easier than buying a handbag.

  21. Only 1 Says:

Who give a fuck where the kid is adopted from? Seriously, children in third world countries who don’t get adopted are likely to have a WAY worse way to go than those here. Hey, I’m all for adopting american children, but seriously (except for the few extreme cases of neglect here) most orphanages have running, clean water, toys, beds and some sort of curriculum for the littler ones and public school for the older children… in the parts of Africa or Asia where these kids are coming from, they have none of that, living below what is considered reasonable living conditions.

  22. hotbitch Says:

I also think that something is wrong with this woman. She had me freaked out when I saw her doing the E! red carpet interview last week. Guiliana (sp?) was like WTF??? She was asking the woman normal questions about her dress and she was came across as high and dumb. Guiliana was basically complimenting her on looking so trim. But she actually asked her what she meant by one of her questions. And did anyone else notice that when she presented an award she was acting out of it? Fucking weirdo!!!!!

And enough with the refugee comments! ANYONE who adopts a child gets props in my book. Even more so if you have enough love in your heart to adopt a child of another race. Until you adopt a child of your own then you probably need to shut up and not dare criticize others.

  23. Supersonic Says:

The post is very offensive and especially to me. I think its really sad to make a joke of adopting kids, there is no bigger trauma than not having a parent for a child and for someone to be willing to try and play that role in your life is a very commendable thing to do. At least this child is being given a chance and to say that Africans care so little about their people and their children that every adoption agency there is willing to sell the kids off like handbags is disgusting. I guess you were trying for some dark humour but it just came off as ignorant racist bullshit.

  24. NYCMami Says:

This little girl is cuter than Baby Z.

  25. just askin' Says:

Hmmm. I think I smell a load of hypocrisy here.

If this post were about Madonna, I’ll bet most of you would be high-fiving Arasto for his rapier wit. Why does MLP get a pass? She IS jumping on this trend (and that’s exactly what it is!) of rich white celebrities adopting children of color from third-world countries.

In this country, black children are placed with black families–END OF STORY. I don’t nececssarily agree with it, but it’s the rule, rather than the exception.

Adopting black children from other countries is, conveniently, a way around that rule..

I believe it’s great when any child is adopted. But I really have to wonder about the motives of these wealthy celebs…

  26. eek Says:

Maybe the “trend” is just becoming a common thing now, which would be great. Parentless children need homes, and people need to stop reproducing so much, so adoption is great both ways.

Madonna is different, because she’s never done a sincere thing in her wretched life. She did adopt that baby (and have her own) just for publicity. Of course, a lot of regular people spawn just for attention, so there’s not much to say. Just pray the kids have nannies who will instill a sense of self-worth that extends beyond Momma’s Photo-Op Prop.

Also, ARASTO: “refugee” is a legal classification, not a belittling slang-word for ‘black person.’ Don’t be so appallingly ignorant.

  27. sotheeffwhat Says:

This post is offensively ignorant and unwarranted…

  28. sigh Says:

arasto, i know you’re just trying to get a rise out of that post, so i won’t comment on the jokes. anyways, i loved her on west wing.

  29. Gabby Says:

shows off her latest ACCESSORY? Does anyone else find anything weird about that?!
