She’s one of the most famous women in the world, but in a shocking upset, Susan Boyle, the 47-year-old Scottish church volunteer whose stunning audition for the Britain’s Got Talent TV show last month has been viewed something like 90 million times on YouTube, lost in the final round of the program on Saturday night (May 30).
After the audience votes had been tallied, Ms. Boyle placed second, beaten by a funky dance troupe named Diversity.
Winners of Britain’s Got Talent receive about $160 000 and a spot on the roster of the Royal Variety Performance, presented in front of the Queen. Their high profiles also virtually assure that they will have lucrative careers in show business. But we’re sure Susan will do just fine sans the BGT push.

Diversity were absolutely brilliant. So glad they won. No sob stories, no media hype, just sheer unadulterated talent!
No loss, really. She already has the world eating out of her hand. What kind of work will Diversity do? They’ll fade soon.
I’m happy for Diversity, although on the night I prefered the saxophonist (forgot his name); damn he played with some passion!I also think the money Diversity won will go to much better use.
SuBo is a bit of a loose cannon isn’t she?
The choreographer of Diversity is actually something special. Look at this routine they did before they appeared on BGT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKxzH-Z2vyc
good. maybe everyone will stop talking about her. who fucking cares.
She wasn’t a great singer, so I’m not suprised.
As far as longevity goes, name me one dance troop that *ever* skyrocketed to fame?
Congratulations to both, but Susan has a much better chance of actually making a career out of this in the future.
And that ‘Lords of the Dance’ crap doesn’t count. Celtic cheeseballs.
I’m actually not surprised to be honest. I think they were just using Susan for publicity and never really intended for her to actually win the competition. She’s a very talented woman and I think it’s great that she managed to get so far and that they gave her a chance, but I think there was lot more to it. They knew that by having someone that looked like her on the show it would cause a bit of a stir. I can’t really see her going too far unfortunately…the novelty will no doubt wear off now.
thank god that old, stinky bitch lost! now she can go away. yayyyyy!
Oh well, she’s still popular.
