Taking advantage of a steamy hot day in Palm Springs, CA, Drew Barrymore and her business partner/best friend Chris Miller stopped for an iced tea and a chat today (May 27) before heading to a local dog park to walk Drew’s dog Flossie.
Drew was among several thousand protesters at a rally in West Hollywood last night to express their opposition to the California Supreme Court’s ruling to uphold the state’s ban on same-sex marriage.
When asked her thoughts on the latest court decision, Miss Barrymore replied: “What makes a family? That’s the question.”
She went on to say: “Family’s deserve to be loved. People deserve civil rights. We cannot take a step backwards…now…in this moment. Please do whatever you can to reverse this.”
As for why she stepped out to protest? “Because I was raised by gay men and women,” she says. “And I am who I am because of them. And I cannot live in a world where they don’t have the rights and the liberties where they deserve. And there are children out there who need loving homes. This is a cause that is dearer to my heart than I can imagine. So I will go and I will fight and I will rally and I will do whatever it takes.”

Come on California, what is the big deal about gay people being married? Grow up Cali!
Couldn’t agree more!
The people have spoken. We live in a democracy and people need to accept that not everyone believes marriage should be redefined.
