Natalie Portman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were busy filming on the set of their new flick, Hesher, in Los Angeles today (May 19).

While Natalie kept up her new Ugly Betty-inspired look, the former 3rd Rock from the Sun actor showed off his bare chest as he went shirtless for the scene. Talk about dedication to the role!

The Spencer Susser-directed drama centers on a loser twentysomething (Joseph) who invades the life of an awkward 13-year-old who is living with a pill-popping father (Rainn Wilson) and grandmother. Natalie plays a supermarket worker for whom the kid falls for after she saves him from a bully.

Joseph was so excited about getting the gig that he wrote a short piece on Hesher at his blog.

Before starting work for Mr. Nolan [on Inception], I’m doing this independent film called HESHER. I love it. Don’t wanna tell you too much about it, specifically, because personally, I prefer watching movies that I don’t yet know much about. I will say that the director is named Spencer Susser, and he’s the genuine article. Natalie Portman is producing and playing a part, and I think it goes without saying how cool that is. And I’ve taken up smoking for the temporary time being — sorry kids!
