Looks like expectant chanteuse Christina Aguilera let her song selection speak for itself at the 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The mama-to-be performed a duet of ‘Steppin’ Out With My Baby’ with veteran crooner Tony Bennett but all eyes were on her baby bump. While the performance itself was more boring than Britney Spears during the MTV VMA’s, it’s fun to catch Xina’s bump bulge out every once in a while.
And if there any skeptics still left (I seriously hope there aren’t), presenter Debra Messing made it clear at the end of the ceremony when she joked she too was planning to perform ‘Steppin’ Out With My Baby’ with William Shatner, but refused to “carry his lovechild.”

horrible…im not to familiar with the song so plz noone jump on me over this but it sounded off beat ..
the song was boring, yes. but christina looked great and no one can deny her absolutely amazing voice!
She wears an apalling amount of make up…sheesh…but actually I think they were trying to create a classy jazz bar vibe with the performance, its quite cute actually…vintage!
Debra Messing cracks me up, but to be honest I would carry Shatner’s love child, he’s an icon! Well he was once….
I had NO idea what she was saying. I had no idea what the song was they were singing? He was talking she was bebopadowaaawaaaa’in with her voice….I had no idea what song was being sung and what the dancers were dancing too. And why did they let a very pregnant woman stand on a piano? Is everyone Crazy ??!!!!

Wow, that really WAS boring! Her voice was rather over-the-top for this kind of song, and especially in the context of a duet. You’re supposed to mesh voices, not stomp all over the other singer. She doesn’t know the meaning of the word subtlety.
I TOTALLY agree with you, just askin’! Her type of voice doesn’t suit this kind of music. It looked as though she was trying to outdo Tony Bennet. And the performance was soooooo boring.
Star she’s pregnant, she’s not a delicate flower about to break at the slightest puff of wind.

Anyhow, the performance was boring but thankfully very short. She looked great though and sang effortlessly as usual.
Perhaps if she and Tony sang oh, I don’t know a T-Pain song then maybe it wouldn’t have been boring right? It’s a classic song and though Tony’s pretty old now and sounded a bit flat, Christina did a great job and it seeing as though the performance was short I don’t know why so many are complaining that it was boring.
“just askin’” got it just right. She overdid it on this classic song and the whole number came off mismatched. However–she has one of the best voices around. If you want to hear her do a modern version of a classic listen to her killer performance of “At Last”; it’s actually better that Etta James’ version.
i dont see what was wrong with it?? i thought it was wonderful. it was like a piece from broadway. loved it!
i love her voice, but i agree…he was so old school sinatra style and she was jut was over singing it. it should have been more sex kitten, not opera singer
Say what you want about Christina’s clothes or TammyFaye-esque makeup but the girl can sing! That’s the diff btw her and Britney. Christina went through her own freak out period but her TALENT let her stay relevent. Britney was all flash and now that the flash is gone what is there to fall back on?

It wasn’t HER song choice. It’s the song she sang with Bennett at his concert. Comparing a performance by Tony Bennett and Christina Aguilera where Christina is actually SINGING to that debacle that was Britney’s performance is ridiculous. Who even does that? How are they comperable anymore? It’s not really topical anymore to do the whole Britney vs. Christina thing.
