The Proposal star Sandra Bullock graces the June cover of Harper’s Bazaar, on stands May 19.
Inside the mag, the 44-year-old actress offers a candid interview about life with husband Jesse James and her recession-friendly fashion sense.
Some highlights:
Sandra on that rare, candid paparazzi shot of her and husband Jesse James dirt biking: “I panicked. We were in the desert, no place to pee. So I peed outside. [I thought] on the cover of the tabloids there’s going to be a picture of me peeing by a cactus. And yes, I did it. I’ll do it again.”
Sandra on marriage to her husband, Jesse James: “I’ve had to learn a hard lesson in that I’m not allowed to open car doors anymore. It was so hard for me to allow someone to take care of me. It’s not because I can’t take care of myself. But Jesse was like, Just let me do this.”
Sandra on whether she’ll start a family of her own with Jesse James: “You don’t have to give birth to someone to have a family. I’m not going to spend two seconds of my life wishing I had something I don’t. It’s hard to do it your way when you hear everyone else telling you to do it their way. I just want people to admit that there’s no one way to live your life. Of course, I don’t know what’s going to happen. I could go home today and go, I haven’t started my period.”
Sandra on having a recession-friendly fashion sense: “I’ve never really had ‘the closet,’ you know, like the Kimora Lee Simmons closet. I see that and I want the leopard carpet. I want the chaise. But if we learn anything from this economic collapse, it’s just work with what you’ve got.”
Sandra on finding freedom in her 40’s: “I didn’t have a teenage or early-20s experience that was free and without worry. I missed the screw-everything, have-a-good-time phase. I was worried that if I didn’t stay on track and work, work, work, I was never going to accomplish anything. Now I’m trying to have fun and have the freedom to do nothing.”

She looks totally pretty in these pictures! I find her honesty quite refreshing. I thought she was adorable in “While You Were Sleeping” but then again, I’ve always had a crush on Bill Pullman. That said, I find her and Jesse an odd couple but whatever they are doing - it’s apparently working for them.

Oh. My. God. This is perfection inside and out. I have never been let down by this woman’s class or integrity. She is stunning to look at and a pleasure to read about. Wow. Can’t wait to see her new movie with Ryan either!

I’ve never been the biggest fan of Sandra but I think she looks gorgeous in these pictures!! That red dress looks amazing on her! I feel like in every movie though she is just playing the same character, a tomboy kind of girl, a bit bohemian, who ends up showing her softer side…blah blah blah. I think she seems to have more personality off screen than on. It’s funny how Jesse ia always referrred to as Jesse James in this article lol
