FADED FASHION

Marc Jacobs’ star-studded show last night was an homage to everything backwards.
And after kicking off the show (at 11 PM) with a bow, models paraded down the runway in an array of rather confusing items which most lilkely left retailers and distributors hanging their heads.
This morning, fashionistas are buzzing about Marc’s backward heel.
R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe told the AP: “I was blown away. It was worth the wait. I liked the shoes with the heels in the wrong place. Pretty cool.”
Our thoughts on Marc’s must-have item for Spring?

September 11th, 2007 at 9:24 am
Weird!
September 11th, 2007 at 9:29 am
do you have any other pics from the show? i would like to see what other backwards things he tried to pull off…shoes with the heel on the front? i admire his imagination, but let’s face it, those don’t look very comfortable or practical!
September 11th, 2007 at 9:48 am
wow i love the heels! dunno if it’s possible to walk in them but if u can keep balance i think it’s great!
September 11th, 2007 at 9:49 am
Maybe he should give up the hustler/porn-star boyfriend, drugs and new anorexic look… and get back to real designing. But like me*, I’d like to see more pics from this show. I do not trust the word of Michael Stipe on fashion matters.

giftbox…….Funny!!!!!
September 11th, 2007 at 10:08 am
my first thought was “how weird!” i love that he’s “thinking outside the box”.
i’d never buy them and don’t like the shoes themselves. it’s good for creating buzz. interesting to see what the other pieces look like.

These shoes are a podiatrist’s dream. Enough stupid women wearing these will finance their children’s educations through graduate school.
September 11th, 2007 at 11:04 am
I bet VB could walk in them effortlessly
September 11th, 2007 at 11:05 am
They are cool looking, but I would never wear them.
September 11th, 2007 at 11:20 am
They are horrendous, I wouldn’t wear those even if someone payed me for it.

WEIRD BUT COOL

I thought I was drunk when I saw this picture - - No, Im not.
Though I have wore my shoes like that before while I was drunk.
September 11th, 2007 at 5:11 pm
Well Michael Snipe was never someone whose fashion sense I admired. Those things are hideous!!
September 11th, 2007 at 5:16 pm
I love it when designers do something a little bit different! It’s boring when the models just simply walk the runway When they really make a show out of it that’s when you really start to feel the whole vibe of the collection and are more likely to remember particular pieces that you might purchase later. I think this is a cool idea, not entirely practical, but a lot of fashion never is. Funny!
September 11th, 2007 at 5:20 pm
this may seem really original to most people but this has pretty much already been done. fashion just repeats itself through history.

Sheer stupidity. And the color is sucky.
Arasto, please be sure to post photos of the first celbrity fucktard who wears these!

Marc places his head on his pillow at night and right before drifting off to sleep, he thinks ….. morons.
September 12th, 2007 at 3:45 am
Just another rip-off of Jan Janssen. He’s a dutch shoe designer. He’s already been ripped off by Armani and Prada, amongst others. He took them to court and he won. Wonder what he’ll do with this.

There is fashion for art and fashion for daily wear..and this is definitely not for daily wear unless you are japanese and trained in the art of walking like a geisha!

PLEASE people put your bitters back in your Manhattan and take a sip. Why is it such an odd thing to rethink the heeled shoe? Architects make careers by stacking cardboard and calling it a chair? Isn’t that what “high Fashion” is about? Yeah, you, me and that other guy over there, are going to waddle on down to faux italian villas Mega-Mall and buy off the rack. But when a designer (quite smartly i might ad in this case) asks you to question your understanding of something, i say Bravo. The other bit i might add is, indignation over where the heel is placed? um, are we born walking on our tippy toes, or is it just to much of a stretch when i compare stilettos to foot binding. Not that I have any bad Joo-Joo towards any good fetish (and black patent leather 4 inch pumps make me stammer). But really “Bad designer…you should only make changes a bit at a time”…that way i can get use to the sight of how “skinny jeans” make ankles look like a engineering marvel that we are upright,…especially after having come to terms with seeing everyones boxer backsides, and the sheer mechanics of keeping those baggys up off the floor.(but really after seeing your boxered behind what’s to be embarrassed with if they do hit pavement once in a while? And yes I am always this winded….(insert smiley face here)
