Moments ago, Dave Letterman sat down with Oprah and her applause-happy audience to kick off the new season of ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show.’
After hugging and laughing like old friends, Oprah said: “You look so cute!”
To which Dave responded: “Here’s the problem in a nutshell. I’m standing backstage. I hear this ovation and it’s huge. In my entire life in television … I’ve never heard an ovation like that. Then the ovation continues. And continues. And now it just gets silly. … I said to a guy back there, what is Oprah doing out there? He says, she’s just standing there.”

I love the fake smiles.. Why do they insist on persuing this false act of kindness towards eachothers.. Oprah doesn’t like him obviously.
Oh nobody really likes anybody. It’s all for the cameras. Dave looks like he’s got more hair there. Did Opie’s hair people fluff up his hairline a little?
They both look like they are smiling so much it hurts.
I don’t think there’s any beef there. I just watched the show and it seems completely genuine. They’d have nothing to prove by appearing together. Neither needs any ratings boosts.
Oprah got old.
I think Dave started it as a joke and since then they’ve gotten to be better aquaintences. Dave is notorious for being private and not wanting too many friends around (another way he’s like Carson) but I think he’s let Oprah get as close as it gets.
Hahahah that’s funny and so true. Oprah could seriously just stand out in her audience for the whole duration of the show and they would still go nuts for her. I don’t think there should be any reason for these two to not like each other. Their shows are completely different, in different timeslots, different audiences, different topics….
When and how did their supposed feud happen?

Tampon there was no real feud. Dave started making comments to people that he’d never gotten Oprah on his show since moving to CBS. Apparently they invited her a few times but she said she had nothing to promote so she said no. Dave took it and ran with it. He questioned Julia Roberts, Barbara Walters, Tom Cruise, etc about their friendship with Oprah. He had a running log of days that Oprah didn’t call or come to the show. It was all just a really big joke that worked b/c Oprah finally did Dave’s show (with the promise that he return the favor when she came to NYC).
why does Oprah look like a man? and what with that man hand on Dave?
