After all that hype about illusions and mirrors and potions and the like, this is what Britney Spears had to offer as a comeback?
Not only was her dancing half-assed, but even her lip-syncing was passively done.
This isn’t a rehearsal, Brit — this is your career!
And don’t even get me started on that hideous outfit. Clearly aged by motherhood and endless tabloid tension, Brit still opted to don a sparkly black and white bikini and black boots. Awful, awful, awful!
Brit concluded her set with: “I just want more.” Sadly, she’s the only one.

I agree!! She was very unenthusiastic, even missing some of her lip-synced lyrics. I think I even saw her stumble a couple of time in the first 20 seconds. YUCK!

She was lipsyn-ing even during her hayday, so I’m not surprised that she lip-synch. But she doesn’t even dance! She left all the dancing to the dancers, and whenever she dances the cameraman pulled a far shot and we can’t even see her moves (a secret deal w/ the MTV to avoid the embarassment)?
No energy in her performance, no dancing, poor outfit, horrible hair extensions (even though her face looks good)…I was rooting for her and hoping her to get a comeback, but she’s gotta give more effort than this as opposed to club-hopping til 3am the prior night! Any stripper can dance better than that since no singing is involved anyway!

OMG it was so horrible….it was so difficult to watch. She looked bad…The outfit made her look chubby or boxy…I can’t think of the word. She didn’t even bother to lip sync…she did a few spins and off she went. I was a collasal disaster. Please make her go away…for good. I can’t stand slow, lingering death scenes. Britney is becoming the industries biggest joke. That girl needs some major help. She needs to disappear. She needs to be kept out of the spotlight. She is an embarassment to this country!!

You know what? I’m through feeling sorry for poor little rich girl Britney. She blew it again, and I agree with fatmouth Kanye West — why did they even give her this platform at the VMA’s? The whole concept of it was inappropriate — they shouldn’t have offered her the opportunity to perform at this event, and she never should have accepted.
She’s too sick/stupid/stubborn to take the high road and disappear for a while and WORK for a chance at a real comeback.
She needs an intervention, now.

Funny thing is, she didn’t even bother to actually do any of the *TALKING* parts (including the line at the end), or even properly lip sync them. When they cut to the celebs in the audience, they looked thoroughly underwhelmed and unimpressed. Hats off to you Brit, any minimal shred of respect your peers had for you is gone.

she couldn’t even be bothered to wash her hair?! and whyyy the underwear- she’s (clearly) not 18 any more. and the choreography and dancing (what she is supposedly famous for) was SHOCKING. i could have done that performance myself and i am terribly uncoordinated and am teased mercilessly by my family for my singing. i suppose i can now say i’m on a par with britney spears haha.

Man, I heard it was bad, but seeing it I have to agree!!!! She barely danced and barely tried lip-synching, she seemed bored, or at least so wasted that she could care less if it worked or not.
Even the famous people in the audience seemed bored and wondering what is going on with Britney, they seem more entertained by the girls on the poles than Britney, and that’s not good!
This proves the difference between true performers like Madonna to Britney, Britney always seems like a lost, confused little girl, while Madonna is in total control and knows how to make things work (even to this day!!!)

i agree that britney needs to learn from people like madonna, that was just sucky as hell! The trick mirrors would have worked better. What happened with Criss Angel? Maybe he just banged britney and they pretended he was going to work with her on the VMAs lol.

MTV is cold and ruthless but smart. They knew Brit was going to be a disaster and human nature makes us stop and look at a train wreck. They probably knew the rest of the show was going to suck, which it really did. Having Brit put the final nail in her career’s coffin insured viewers and the rumour, which I’m sure MTV created, about a closing performance kept us watching. They won. They got their ratings. She is just untalented white trash and the fact that she ever had a career still boggles my mind.

Watching it many times over (LOL), she looks like she’s drunk at the beginning because she almost stumbles (even though she’s not walking!!!!). And its hilarious seeing the reactions from the celebrities, Rihanna is laughing at it, 50 Cent is wondering what the hell is going on, Nelly claps just to be nice and P Diddy is asking why she did this to herself.

And how insulting is it to somene like Alicia Keyes, who is hugely talented, to have to share a stage with someone who is so unproffesional. I have disliked Britney from the start, but as I watched this I saw stuff other people brushed off as being drunk and uncaring. While all that may be true, I try to see the best in people regardless. In the begining it seems as if she just realized how long it’s been since she was in front of a crowd, let alone it being in front of the flippin’ world, and she was stumbling because she was frightened..especially since the people she was performing for seemed to just be degrading her silently. I would stumble too. I think maybe she really tried but she has alot built up that she hasn’t got passed. I don’t think it was that incredibly bad for a start. You watch all you banwagon Britney fans are going to be wowed and jump back on the wagon. And I’m just gonna laugh.
