USHER AND SON LAND IN PEACE

Clearly enjoying his role as dad, Usher was seen arriving at LAX Airport in Los Angeles today (April 25) carrying his 16-month-old son Usher Raymond V and an Elmo doll.

Escorted by a bodyguard, the hunky R&B crooner flashed the peace sign to photographers before departing in a chauffered SUV.

The father-son duo were returning from their week-long stay in Washington where Usher announced that he’s fronting a United Nations drive to fight malaria in Africa. Teaming up with the Nothing But Nets campaign, he’s urging underprivileged youths to become more pro-active and make a difference in global issues.

The aim of the initiative is to raise funds to prevent African kids contracting the deadly disease by providing more mosquito nets to civilians. Malaria is usually spread by mosquito bites.

Says Usher: “I am proud to be a part of an exciting partnership with the United Nations Foundation and its Nothing But Nets campaign. This initiative sends an important message: youth, regardless of their backgrounds, can make a difference in this world by taking action through service to save lives. Anyone can make a difference. All it takes is $10 to send a net and save a life.”

Today is World Malaria Day.

I couldn’t agree with you more Post one. All the money that our countries spend on war could have made a massive difference in Africa. It’s kind of sad when more money is spent on ending lives than it is on saving them. Everyone needs to get their priorities straight. The economic crisis seems kind of trivial compared to some of the stuff that people in Africa face every day, and have faced for their whole lives.
Onto Usher….it’s good to see him doing something worthwhile. Even though I’ve always enjoyed his music, he has always come across as pretty self-centred to me. His little boy is completely adorable!

I find the kid adorable too! I think he looks just like his mother.
